Are You Cooking With Love?
If that doesn’t give parents pause, I don’t know what will. What I do know is that most parents love their children. And parents who love their children would not knowingly put their child’s life in danger. That would mean some parents, do not consider childhood obesity as dangerous. Even if your child is thin, it doesn’t mean that they are not suffering the effects of poor nutrition. More and more children are suffering from hypertension (high blood pressure). The diabetes rates in children are higher than they've ever been. Since 2004, prescription rates for children on medications to treat high blood pressure, diabetes, or abnormal cholesterol has increased by 15%. Childhood obesity is dangerous and bad nutrition is making our kids sick. But it’s so easy to pick up McDonalds on the way home. It’s one more thing you don’t have to do. A Mac & Cheese meal after a hectic day at work is easy. The child is happy. Maybe in our effort to keep our children from complaining, and because we’re tired, we jeopardize the life of the very child we are trying to make happy. Let’s face it. It’s easier to give a child what they want than say no and have to deal with an unhappy child of any age. But the choices adults make for children have consequences. Before wearing seatbelts became law, there was overwhelming evidence to prove that wearing seatbelts saves lives. That should have been enough for every parent to buckle up their child, yet children continued to die. We had to enact a law to protect us from ourselves. Will our future bring laws to prevent us from destroying our children with food? Children need leaders in their life who are willing to guide them with loving discipline. Leaders to support their growth into productive independent grown folk. You’re cooking with love when you create an environment where your seed can grow to it’s maximum potential. Show them by example how to love themselves by giving your body some fresh love and exercise. And because somebody complains about your choice doesn't make your choice wrong. Just look around the next time you are out shopping, or at the daycare or elementary school. One out of five American four year old children are obese. Remember that and say NO to poor nutrition. |

Start today. Any exercise is better than none, but start with something simple like walking and some free weights along with a simple plate diet five days a week.
